Yes, it's expensive and the lock is more or less a gimmick since it really doesn't provide much protection. It looks pretty though and is built tough. At least initially it's a bit hard to write in it due to the stiff binding and I hope that it loosen up a little instead of break.

Its a nice looking journal but its too easy to break into. All you need is a pair of scissors. I don't think it was worth what I paid for it.
