Fit for a king... King Richard I in particular... May 07, 2010
By Andrew C. Wong Those of us who enjoy fantasizing about the middle ages or who simply have delusions of grandeur will have more fuel added to their fire with this fine leather journal.
The leather quality is smooth and glossy, yet rugged. This is not hardcover yet the rigidity of the leather makes it seem like it is. The patterns pressed into the leather on both the front and back is detailed and exquisite. The journal paper itself is gold leafed on the edges and lined on the inside; it's thicker than regular paper and made to last... the pad of paper is also replaceable.
The only caveat is that the journal itself is not the 'regular' 8x11 inches, but 6x8. Though that makes it much more portable.
I use the journal for work, but it's ideal for diaries, accounting, travel notes, treasure maps and recording weak spots in that castle you're besieging.

Beautifully crafted! Feb 01, 2010

Gift for Christmas from my Grandson Gabe. He picked the right gift from my list.
It's very classic, sturdy leather, with the Lion Rampant, and the small size is perfect to take with you on trips. When you've filled it up, you can add another pad and start over!
Thank you Gabers! I love it!

Nice cover for a journal you can keep reusing. Jan 13, 2011
By Michael Vezza This is a nice faux leather re-usable journal - refillable, technically - that I have been writing in daily for the last two months or so. It doesn't lay terribly flat for the first few pages and, from what I see, the last pages either. Sometimes this can be annoying to write in a new diary until you get the hang of it and you reach the sections that can actually lay flat, making the writing process easier.
The paper is good, I normally use ball point pens, and I encounter no smudging or smearing of the ink on the page. I carry the diary with me everywhere and it holds up pretty well. Some of mine get terribly damaged, dinged, bent, torn - a plethora of symptoms. This journal has held up pretty well for the two months or so I've been dragging it everywhere with me in my bag.
I don't really intend to buy the refill packages - just simply the nature of the writer I am, I need a book for a "new" start - but for those want to write and my eco-conscious, the refills can are inexpensive for a "new" journal you can just slid into the cover of this one when you're done.
On that note, I've never once had an issue with the inserts falling out.

By ellen I was really looking for a journal with a lion on it, and i found this. in retrospect, i wish i hadn't purchased it. The fact that this is refillable is kind of frustrating because I use this every day, and the cover of the paper book inside always seems to bend and not want to slip back into the cover. I always have to fidget with it to get it to close properly. However, this is not a bad journal. It is quite beautiful. Mine was a light beige color, not the darker brown in the first picture here, and the edges of my pages are not gilded. I would recommend this book to someone who is looking specifically for something refillable.
