Just missed perfect (by a hairs breadth) Oct 22, 2007

I have to say, I love this journal. I just recieved it today, and it's fantastic. The only disappointment was that it did not have gold edged pages. Maybe I got the only one, maybe not. Either way, it is still a great journal for travelling or for the everyday. I would recommend this wholeheartedly.

WAY overpriced, buyer beware Apr 24, 2011
By Apartment Owner I was so pleased with the look of this journal! And then two days after I received it, I saw the exact same item in blue and burgundy at an office supply store that rhymes with "Naples" for nine bucks. That'll teach me to do my research. Hope it helps someone else.

Nice Quality Feb 12, 2011
By Evie The journal was better than I expected with very soft covers. The embossed nautilus looks great and I like the ribbon place marker. Over all it's a great journal for someone who has more traditional aesthetic tastes.

Looks nice, but disappointing quality Oct 25, 2011
By Titanium Raven I really liked the embossed design on the dark blue cover and the raised spine detail - in the photos. I ordered two of these journals, and was disappointed in the quality of both, so I believe what I got is the norm and not the exception.
The paper is thinner than that of other journals, and ink writing on one side is noticeably visible on the other side. The embossing is of uneven depth, and the headbands (part of the "binding") are cut too short and were misalinged. Turned out I could fix this, because they're only attached with double-stick tape! The blue marker ribbon on the first journal became completely detached, because all that was holding it on was the cheap, double-stick tape. At least I know to be careful with the second journal's ribbon to keep it from falling off.
The product description says "hand crafted". If hand crafting is a selling point, it should have better quality than this and a suitable price point. This looks more like "hand crafted" is a marketing excuse to charge more for poor quality. I couldn't care less about the hand-crafted aspect. I want a journal that is well-constructed regardless of the manufaturing process.
Sure, it still looks nice. Just don't look too closely. Definitely not worth the $36.00 retail price, nor the current $19.99 Amazon sale price either, not when there are better products out there for more reasonable prices.

nice journal Dec 16, 2011
By Jestin It's a pretty nice journal. I think it was a pretty good purchase. I had bought it for taking down my thoughts while out at sea. the Nautical star bound in the leather is what really caught my eye. it is a bit stiff, but its really a nice classy journal to have around.
